Kidepo Valley National Park

Kidepo valley National Park is the only arid-savannah National park in Uganda and supports more than 86 varieties of mammals.
This forgotten wilderness located in the North East of Uganda is between the Zulia mountain ranges and Napore. Kidepo is a protected area in the Karamoja region. Animals in this National park include zebra, elephant, giraffe, cheetar, wild dog, lesser kudu, and the ostrich that has a lot to offer.
This spectacular parks harbours unsurpassed sceneries in the whole of East Africa. The suck in air taking savannah landscapes, a huge latitudinal range with a good climate favours the variety of animals some of which are found nowhere in Uganda.

Game drive/ Viewing

Over 114 species of mammals in the park, 28 are not known to be in any other Ugandan park. Canivore species exceptional to Kidepo and Karamoja are bat-eared fox, striped hyna, aardwolf, caracal, cheetah, and hunting dog, kudu, chandlers mountain reedbuck, klipspringer, dikdik, bright gazelle; beisa Oryx and roan antelope, elephant, burchell's zebra, bush pig, warthog, Rothschild giraffe, cape buffalo, eland, bush back, bush duskier defasso water buck, bohor reed buck, and Jackson's hartebeest.

In addition to these, five primate species found in the park, the Kavirondo bush baby is endemic. Carnivores in the park take account of lions, leopards, several small cats, spotted hyna, black-backed jackal and side-stripped jackal.
Tree climbing lions are also seen sitting at the sauce of trees along Narus valley as you enter Apoka headquarters.
Birds are more than 58 species of which 14 are endemic to Kidepo and Karamoja region which include; verreaux eagle, Egyptian vulture, pygmy falcon, hornbills, redbilled, yellow billed, Jackson's horn bill, the giant Abyssinia ground hornbill is quite common, as you trail and follow the birds you may add on the list as there is no current survey of the birds living within the National park.

Hiking and scenery viewing

Hiking Lamoj Mountains which is few kilometers from the park headquarters gives you a good view of impressive Kidepo river valley dominated by palm trees .This leads you to Kanangorok hot springs, The appreciation for the savannah landscapes of the park leaves you relaxed.
Picnic
A picnic within Kidepo along Kidepo river, sand site rewards with the music from the palm leaves and songs of various birds, an atmosphere worth experiencing.

Nature walks with cultural…
The most interesting nature walks are more of cultural, entertainment, learning more and increasing your knowledge of the Karamajong way of living, the Karamajong Manyattas (homesteads), kraals for the cows, customary wear, home utensils; spears, knives, arrows, and jewelry, and weaved beads.

You are welcomed with performance from the Larakaraka, Emunyu, Apiti. All local traditional dances of the region, of which proceeds go to the development of the communities' projects.
